Create and use list properties

To filter your lists by property values and create saved views to revisit certain lists, you can create custom list properties. For example, create a List purpose property to indicate why the list was created and how it should be used, such as for a marketing email or for tracking event attendees.
Custom list property values can be set when you create a new list or from the lists index page after a list is processed.
Please note: list properties are for filtering lists, not the records within a list. If you want to set criteria for which records to include in a list, create and use properties for the object in the list (e.g., contacts, deals) rather than list properties.
Create list properties
To create custom list properties:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the top navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Properties.
- Click the Select an object dropdown menu, then select List properties.
- Click Create property.
- Set up your property, then click Create.

Add properties to the create list form
To add your list properties to the form shown when creating a new list:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings settings icon in the top navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Objects > Lists.
- Click Customize the 'Create list' form.
- In the left sidebar of the list form editor, click Add properties.
- Select the checkbox next to the custom property.
- You can also set up conditional logic, make properties required, or rearrange properties. Learn more about customizing the create form.
- Click Save in the upper right.
With the property added to the list create form, you can now access the property in the Custom properties section when creating a list.
Update list properties
You can update custom property values for existing lists from the lists index page:
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to CRM > Lists.
- Hover over a list, then click Details.
- In the right panel, in the Custom properties section, update the property value.
- Click Save.
